Hi guys. So i'm having some trouble with a xerox m3. The user changed the toner bottle and the waste toner bottle. Sometime after that, the message shown on the display is something like " check if waste bottle is fitted properly and close the toner door". I don't have a service manual to work with and i could use some advice. I;m curious where is the waste toner door switch. I think that could help.

Re: xerox m35- waste toner bottle
The waste toner door is located on the left hand side of the copier to the back / rear behind the bypass tray. There are 2 sensors. 1 sensor looks through the top of the waste toner bottle and has a send and receive side. When toner fills to the top of the bottle it blocks the light and triggers the waste toner full message. An empty, but dirty bottle can also cause this problem if the user empties and reuses the waste bottle without cleaning the inside of the bottle on the top where the sensor looks through. The other sensor is a push switch mounted on the waste toner pipe. This switch detects if the bottle is there or not. The end of the waste toner pipe has a spring loaded shutter to prevent toner from spilling out when you remove a waste bottle. When this shutter is pushed in, it also pushes in on this switch. It is possible for this switch to get dislodged as it just snaps into place without screws. It might also be possible that the shutter piece is not correctly installed and not pushing on the switch. -
Re: xerox m35- waste toner bottle
So the toner door doesn't has a switch of its own. I just talked to the user and confirmed my guess : that he didn;t changed the toner waste bottle. I'll put a new one in today. Thank so much for all the great info. I appreciate it.Comment
