Splash Rip g630 upgrade to g640 possible?

I know the Splash g610 and 620 can be upgraded to a 630, with the correct software and new dongle, but has anybody tried to upgrade a 630 to use the 640 software?

The official splash 640 pci card hardware is supposed to be different from the earlier 610/20/30 cards but you never know as sometimes it seems to be supported configuration vs what actually works. The main advantage I can see is that MacOS X, instead of 9, would give more compatibility. You would also probably have to use a more powerful mac as the 640 came initially with a dual processor G4 and then later a dual G5 mac.

Thanks for letting me know your experience. I'm going to try it as well. I've got the g640 installer cd, but I can't find the g630 one. I'd better try and get the g630 one first, just in case it all goes horribly wrong and I have to reinstall it.

          Hi Alex,

          Format you MAC drive
          Then install the MacOS software

Then install the G630 or the G640 software

For most Slash Rip cards tis will work.
8 out of 10 will work the other 2 won't

          Good Luck,

          Artphil
