Says bypass tray is not closed on our DocuColor 240

We had a paper jam, tracked it down and cleared them.

Now it's saying the bypass try cover is not closed.

Full disclosure, my main door switch got busted in a move so I "bypassed" it with some paper clips across the two terminals. So to "clear" jams in the system I have to pull those clips and then put them back. When doing so last time, I accidentally touched the clips together. Is this just the jam still giving me problems or did I possibly blow something on the board that recognizes when the cover is closed?

We didn't have ANYTHING going on with the bypass tray when this happened and was pulling from Tray 6 on the side of the machine. Paper jammed in the main printing area (fuser?).

    Anyone have any ideas?

I would replace the front cover interlock switch, 110E11980, then find the blown fuse on the low voltage power supply, usually the 24 volts DC area.

Just checked all the fuses in the PSU below and everything is fine... any other ideas?

There are more behind that board, but I am having a hard time easily getting back there... the ones I can see are testing good though.

The schematic shows a fuse F1 on the Tray Module PWB that feeds the door interlock switch with 24 volts DC.

              No luck.

Anyway to tell the machine that we don't have a bypass tray?

At least I could get it back up and operational for the moment.

On main interlock switch you should have 5V and 24V.
Check do you have 5 and 24 V on interlock.

One side has 5v, the other side shows .01v So, no 24v on that side.

Where is that schematic you are looking at? I have the service manual (72588520-Xerox-Dc-2-4-0-2-5-0-Series.pdf) but I will admit I have a hard time chasing my tail trying to follow this thing.

Just checked the Tray PWB and the lines coming into it all seem right. 24v on the Orange top two pins, ground on the purple middle 4?, and 5v on the bottom grey wire. If that board is the one that feeds the switch it's 24v then something went wrong somewhere else. I just don't have a schematic (I don't think) to trace that harness back.

The schematic is somewhat hidden. Go to RAP,s , then other faults, then IOT low voltage, then 24vdc. It shows that there are 8 fuses on the tray PWB, f1 thru f8. F1 feeds the whole board for 24vdc, and also the interlock switch. I was using the edoc for this problem, not a paper manual. When you shorted the interlock switch power to frame, the fuses are safety devices that blow to prevent the board from damage.

Have you checked the actual bypass tray cover switch?

Sorry for the long delay in responding, we had a lot of other things in the works.

Yes, the switch is testing just fine.

                          Still at a lost.

did you check the bypass interlock switch if it is working ? This may not be the problem, but i would look at what the machine is pointing to first. Maybe you did, but just checking.
