    Xerox 7545 Finisher gate solenoid

I have TWO xerox 7545 finished that have finisher entry gate issues. When trying to use the bottom/booklet output tray the finisher entry gate does not open/turn so that the paper will flow down to this section.

They were both replaced with solenoids from old finisher and each one worked for 1-2 days. I ordered NEW solenoids and both worked initially, one was used slightly for a week without issue. Just tied to do a booklet and the issue has returned, the gate is not opening to direct the paper to the lower part of the finisher.

In my searching forums I recall someone mentioning the voltage could be increased to the solenoid? Any know if this is a fact any how to do it ?

Any ideas on why this issue continues? We can still do booklets we just have to open the gate manually, we need a long term solution.

Could it be the wire is too tight? The act of fitting a solenoid, may have been enough of a pull on the wire to get it working for a short while.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have a look. Which wire are you thinking? I don't recall thinking any wire could be a issue. I swapped the solenoid and haven't really poked around much else in there and need to get more familiar with it.

Note these finishers have been tested on different machines with different transports, something I didn't mention earlier.

What error codes are you getting for this? Should be in the 312 area

        Hope this helps

Hate to say this but you may have to take out the whole booklet maker assembly and take a look at the entire assembly very closely. I have had this same issue a few times, most of the time the Booklet Gate Solenoid (Xerox PN 015K65821) has fixed it. Once I have had to disassemble the unit and carefully inspected and cleaned everything and didnt find anything causing havoc. Put it back together and it worked perfectly fine. What if any error codes are you getting?

          Hope this helps

Is it coming back with "set clamp clutch" faults at all?

                Guys,
It sounds to me like he is talking about the Professional Finisher, not the LX office finisher.

The only tips I could find about that gate were:
Check the booklet gate for anything blocking the motion and if not, replace the gate solenoid.

One guy found that the solenoid was sticking. He added a small piece of plastic inside the solenoid to keep the plunger from going all the way in and also extended the spring.

You could also have a pinched / partly broken wire going from the solenoid to the finisher board.

No errors related to the gate. Just paper jams as the paper flows in the direction of the middle tray and gets wrapped around the wheel there and jams.

Thanks, I will give this a try and report back. Not a priority at the moment for me but must get to it at some point.

Hi - I have the professional finisher attached to a DC 242 and it had exactly the same problem. I fixed it quite simply by sticking a rubber foot (about 10mm thick) under the middle of the gate flap so that when it is in the lower position, it's not all the way down. It's been 100% reliable after that.
