    Xerox Workcentre 7765 altboot

This forum as been amazing...so much help to me trying to work on my Xerox. Problem is: was using the machine yesterday and in the late afternoon the screen froze. Then the boot screen came on and the machine would never boot. Then I remembered that the machine probably shouldn't be in 100% plus heat. So what I know is altboot to get the machine up and running again.
This is the trouble. I have loaded the three necessary files onto a thumb drive, inserted it into the machine, and turned on the power. About 2 minutes into the boot, I can see the thumb drive being read.
The screen goes black, and nothing appears on the screen as it should to reload the system. These are the files on the thumb drive. DISABLE_DATA_BACKUP, FORCED_UPGRADE, WorkCentre_7700-system-sw#01609022019700#.DLM

So why does it attempt to read the thumb drive but do nothing? After the black screen it goes back to the wait system is powering up. About 4 minutes later it does the same thing....reads the thumb drive, black screen and back to the power up screen.

As usual, thanks in advance for helping a chronologically mature guy.

Yes, I have them in a folder named altboot. I was told that it should be all lower case because it is case sensitive....I see you used two capital letters....could that be my problem?

If memory serves it should all be uppercase. Away with the wife at the moment and no laptop with me. You can always rename on site and try again.

I am about to try all uppercase on the folder name.

If that doesn't work....please advise me of some of the things that might have happened. I trust the CPU is working, because I can see the machine trying to read the thumb drive. Could be some other component? Hard Drive?

          Thanks for the help
