Fiery X12 - KB and Mouse not working

    Hi all,

thought I would share a solution that I 'hacked'.

One of my X12's stopped working and I stripped it right down and had some serious words with it. After replacing the 8gb hdd with an 80gb it wanted to boot, but came up with a bsod. I then cloned my hdd from my other xp12 to which it booted, but being NT4, very picky, which left the network not working... Soooo... login to Windows and find out that the Fiery locks the KB and mouse when it's finished booting...

It took me a few hours, a few 'new' clones, but I got it!!!

Take the HDD out and slave it on a normal computer. Rename the EFI directory to EFI.old. Return to XP12 and boot. This will prevent the EFI software from loading. Install the hardware and drivers (in my case a1000mb networks card). Take HDD to the other pc and rename the EFI.old to EFI and return back to the XP12.

Easy... when you have no hair left!!!

    Is this work?

You have installed XP12 sysw on X12. Is the keyboard and mouse work now? You dont have blue screen on monitor?
Faci Enablement kit for X12 cost a lot. If you managed to get X12 work with keyboard and mouse thats great. But how with Xp12 sw? These rips are different. X12 use IDE hdd, Xp12 use SCSI hard drive, EX12 use IDE hdd. ..

Yes, you have succesfully cloned an XP12 system software onto an X12 hardware but you may have software incompatibility/ calibration issues in the future.

Sorry guys - they were both X12's - must have had XP on the brain when I posted.

Yup, that's why I needed do disable the EFI SW so that I could install the drivers for the new network card.

The KB/M don't work now because I had to re-enable the EFI software.
