[Misc] Xerox 550 printing very light bands across SRA3 sheet even from blank/clear pdf

Hello All

I'm a small digital print business running a xerox 550 on a shoestring. I have an issue with my printer in that it prints very light bands across a SRA3 sheet even when printing a pdf that is completely blank. I have changed the black drum which did not make a difference at all. Could anyone give me advice on what may cause this and how to remedy. My background is in pre press and I have been running this printer for 1 1/2 years which I originally bought from auction. I have to also say I am absolutely amazed at how good these printers are and have been thoroughly impressed by it but am now having this issue.

Needs to see your sample. If it's lines from lead edge to trail edge, you may have to look into 1st or 2nd BTR, and/or IBT cleaner.

Are the bands a noticable colour? or are they a dirty brown colour? Are they going in the print direction (lead edge to tail edge) or are they going from the front of the machine to the rear of the machine (inboard to outboard).

Thank you for replies. The banding looks a very very light grey, I've swopped fuser black drum with no change, switched mag/cyan drums no change of hue. Have also removed IBT cleaning blade assembly and given it a good clean, this may have marginally improved the bands. The bands run from inboard to outboard. I have attached some pictures, apologies camera not very good, the banding is the very fine ones on edge you can hopefully just make out, ignore the larger bands running longer length as this is camera/paper effect. The banding runs across right to the very edge of paper.

It dooes look like it is the IBT cleaning assembly - dirty toner is escaping from the cleaner and is being re-deposited on the belt and therefore on the paper.

UPDATE..... well again many thanks for all your replies, I've found the source of the problem seems my cheap "allegedly" compatible imported chinese (Zhuhai warmth) toners have been a lesson learnt for me, I have recently put a black and yellow toner in the printer and they have slowly been feeding through, black primarily as this was the first toner to run out and be replaced, the initial problem was light grey streaks and it gradually got worse and made an awful mess as the toner then started not fusing properly too. Bit gutted as I was hoping to have found a cheaper solution for toners on my "sold" machine. Love my printer think I have had a lucky escape and it lives to print another day.
