    XEROX W/C 5645 NOISE

    Hey Folks...
I'm working on W/C that is jamming under drum, but mostly the loud noise, looks like the main drive belt, it is pretty loose, I couldn't find any locked gears...anyone else have to replace this belt?...and it doesn't look like fun to replace...thans..

Check the fuser drive gear. There is a brass bushing on the back side of the gear that wears out. You can get to it by removing the fuser and removing the retaining ring that holds it in place. The other option is to replace the main drive unit. Also pull out the developer unit and make sure it turns freely.

Hi..I did take fuesr out and was able to spin upper fuser roller by hand, it seemed to spin o.k., now I didnt spin the lower fuser roller, nor do I have a fuser assem. to swap out...the fuser was my first initial response...I did check the web and it didnt seem bound up...I checked the drum, no binding there, and I did try to run without developer unit , out of machine, course it wouldnt allow me to, as Im thinking the bias cable and developer connector will tell me door is opened, even with front door interlock cheated....none of other feed/exit rollers seemed bound up...Im not sure of brass bearing your talking about, does that drive the lower fuser roller?...man replacing that belt, doesnt look like fun, if that is my problem...

The fuser drive gear with the brass bushing is located on the main drive unit. You can access it by removing the fuser unit, then remove the snap ring and the bushing is inside the gear. Removing the inverter unit will give you easier access to the gear.

Yes. It should slide right off.

              thats
what I was hoping, the belt is still on, but the belt id clearly loose, enough to stay on. Then I removed smaller white gear on the right of fuser drive gear to be sure, so I wiggles it, even put a couple drops of tri-flo...looks like quite a bit to have to replace whole drive unit?

It is not so bad. I think it's 5 screws and one for the power supply. The worst part is all the connectors. Once you have done it you can do it in about 30 minutes.
