Xerox 7556, gets worse the more I work on it.

The machine is a refurb. Has less than 20,000 total. The call was for a void on the color image. It was coming from the magenta. I had to pull the printhead and clean it. When I reassembled, it made good copies and now a horrible noise, like grinding/clacking. Pulled everything I had pulled earlier and found nothing wrong. I used the service tools to turn on different things til I found the noise coming from the agitator. I took apart the front again and one by one remove parts til I found which item was causing it. Well, no noise. I reassemble and now the first noise is gone and a new one is in it's place. This one seems to be coming from the dv boxes. Also my magenta has gone to a light pink. I can see the gear on the toner supply system moving. I went in and checked my atc target and the atc average, they are 610 for the target and 608 for the average. At this point I am stumped and tired of this machine. Any input would be appreciated.

Dis-assemble your machine again and re-assemble one by one. You had problem with Magenta Dev housing. Paid attention to it, you also may have to replace Magenta Dev due to its original problem:void line due to it had rock inside.

New noise came from drums packing developer and toner in the cleaning section. Changed the magenta dv box and developer, made no dif. Looking at LPH now and then maybe the DV HVPS.
