Are you able to access the machine through Centreware? it's been awhile since I have worked on one, but I believe you can enable/disable displayed features under services within Centreware. And if not there, you should be able to by logging in through the control panel.

It is under Services. You can select which features are displayed or hidden on the touchscreen (Ex: copy, ID copy, fax, scan to folder, network fax, etc.). It is unlikely that the feature would need to be reinstalled with a software key. If you are able to login to the machine via Centreware and setup scan templates, print properties, etc., then the feature is still there and you should be able to enable it. You may want to download the Administrator's guide from the Xerox website and search for display configuration. If not there, then login as admin on the device itself and look under Services, but I am pretty sure it is done through Centreware on the 57XX.

It would also be a good time to check any other 57XX that you might have out in the field for battery voltages. If you don't wait until they get too low, you can usually swap them out (within 20 seconds) without this kind of thing happening. Those little batteries are only good for AT BEST maybe 5 years.
