    Xerox DC 242 printing issue.

    Hi all,

    Having issue with DC 242. When printing every now and then will not print and in the Command workstation job title shows "unknown". Have to resend it 10 - 20 times for the file to print.

    I have been told by the person printing on it that it works fine after reinstalling the system software for about 6 month and then all starts again.

    Any help to resolve this issue would be greatly appriciated.

    Reinstall the software on Fiery controller.

      Having issue reinstalling the software.
      I have got 3 CDs System Software v2.0. I have made a crossover cable turned the controller off, changed the 2 swith possition and started the controller.
      Started the installation from my laptop and the first CD installed fine but the second fails after some installation.
      Tried it several times still the same. CDs are all new and clean, just copied tham and that went fine as well.

      Is there a way to sort out the issue without reinstalling the software as I mentnioned, the issue will come back again after some months?

        Try to make a copy of second cd using a friend cdrom unit.
        Then try again.
        Also exist files from reloading Fiery from usb stick but you need a special bootable usb stick

          I have sorted the issue. Created ISO version of the discs and mounted them one by one using UltraISO installing the software. I used the crossover cable that goes from the fiery to the copier and all installed just fine )

          Also reduced the NIC speed to 100 half duplex, disabled firewall and antivirus.

              Maybe is too late, but could help to another colleague, I had same situation a long time ago, trying to reload sw using the disks, until I changed to USB Method. Using Preptool it its easier. download Preptool from Efi.com page, install preptool in your laptop, place an USB memory ( pendrive) in any usb port of your laptop, insert the first disk in the CD/dvd drive, run the Preptool App, select the drive from (disk) and the drive to (USB drive) and proceed. . Once you have the prepared USB with the software, Just place it at any usb port of the bustled fiery (do not change the position of the dip switches) and power on . check the digital led on server , it start 01, 02,03........55) 20 t0 30 minutes is done. remove the usb and power on ,
