xerox 510 creasing paper when paper low 36 inch roll

    Good day,

I am working on a xerox 510 that has two problems

one it is creasing when paper roll get low on paper. When the roll is replace with a new roll creasing stops until the roll gets low.

The second is that there are areas that are coming out light.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Re: xerox 510 creasing paper when paper low 36 inch roll

The main difference in the paper at the end of the roll is increased curl. Perhaps the lead edge of the paper is hanging up somewhere along the paper path and causing a dog ear in the lead edge, which then causes wrinkling. The more common causes of this are:
    • Plastic guide over D/T corotron. Make sure both sides guides are fully snapped into place. If they are positioned correctly, try replacing the one on the side of the print experiencing the wrinkles. ( I have found no other way to test this theory, but it often fixes the problem.)
    • Fuser In-feed Guide: Make sure all holes are open in the plastic guides leading up to the fuser area. The holes often get clogged with tar and crud blocking the air passage. Also, the fuser vacuum fan may need to be cleaned. This is the fan to the left of the waste bottle that has the large black filter mounted to the top. You remove the filter and inspect the blades of the fan. If there is any dirt in the blades, use a flat blade screw driver to scrape them clean.

Regarding the light print, you have to determine one of the following:
    • Blurred image: Sometimes a light print is due to a focus issue. Check the density as explained below. Use a test pattern that will show up focus like the one with the resolution targets. If you see inconsistencies through the length of the print, there may be a problem with the focus of the image on the drum. Inspect the white nylon wheels on the image module. Insure there are no flat spots in the rollers and that they roll freely. Sometimes the image rollers are not sitting on the drum. With the image model closed and the top cover open, inspect the rollers to insure they both sit on the surface of the drum on both sides. There is a screw in the image module assembly that may need to be loosened so the image module will move freely within the main assembly.
    • Run Auto ESV set-up 09-04. This will insure the electrostatics are set correctly.
    • Density: Run the internal test pattern and check the black density of the solid blocks. Ideally, you would check it with with the density test pattern to insure proper density. If the density is low, adjust the density level in 09-21-3 until proper density is attained.
    • Exposure: The 0904 will set the intensity level. However, there are times when everything else is set correctly and fine line production is not up to standards. You will see this in the test pattern with the resolution targets. If the targets are washed out consistently across the print, then you can adjust the intensity level to compensate.
