    Hard Drives on Xerox MFP's

A question for the Xerox people.

Are the Xerox machines similar to Ricoh's in that you can pull a hard drive out and erase it then reinstall and the machine will work, or more like Toshiba's where Firmware(or something else) is stored on the HDD and there is a specific procedure for erasing the hdd?

    Models in question are workcenter 3550, 5225A, 7765 and a Phaser 3636

Xerox uses a proprietory operating system on thier drives.

The only way to get around buying a new one from xerox is cloning a known good one with something like Norton ghost.

Then load new firmware (with "Altboot" if possible).

    Good Luck !
