[Misc] Fiery X12 boot up issue

Hi,We have a Fiery X12 connected to a DocuColor 12 (circa 2005 !). When powering up it stays at "Configuring HD controller..." and then goes to "Loading...". I have a screen attached and I see a "Boot Failure" message (see full message below). I don't know how to fix this issue - do I need to re-install the OS on the server ? Is it Windows XP ? Is there Fiery software then to install ?Would really appreciate some comments, suggestions, prayers etc !MarkBoot Failure

or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device

      Hi mkeane,

You might want to try a few things before reloading software.

      Reseat all boards and cables.

I've seen a bad CD drive cause this: try booting with the CD drive unplugged.

Press and hold the 4th key on the right side of the UI and power on the Fiery
Continue to hold the 4th key until the UI reads 'install software, 'restore backup', install option', and 'start system'.
      Select 'restore backup'.
Select 'yes' at the following question: 'restore backup configuration?'
This will take approximately 15-20 minutes and the Fiery will reboot 3-4 times.
Once it comes up to idle you will need to 'run setup' and reconfigure the settings.

If it still won't come to idle, a software reload would be the next step.

Good luck and let us know what fixes it!

      Don

        Thank Don,
That's excellent - got Fiery going again.
Just getting a "Network Controller Error" on the printer itself.
Presume I have to reconfigure so they are talking to each other.
Can I do this via the console and an you point me to where I might get instructions ?
        Thanks again, Mark

Sorry Don, just saw comment re: run setup.
I think there were a couple of setup options - all or any one in particular ?

              Hi Don,
I have to install a patch to fix the "Network Controller error".

Do I install via the interface at the front of the server or do I need to get into the NT OS ? How do I get into the OS ?

              Thanks in advance
              Mark

                Hi,

Any time I've encountered that message, It's gone away after reseating the cables between the controller and the printer. Try shutting both down and unplugging and re-plugging the cables. The set up on the fiery is for communication with your network: IP address etc. The controller communicates with the printer by way of one cable and the scanner communicates with the controller by way of the other cable. Make sure they are plugged in correctly. There are small icons on both the fiery and the Doc12.

                Don
