Xerox Workcentre 7242 background and fuzzy output

    Xerox Workcentre 7242 background and fuzzy output

    I have a customer that inherited a WorkCentre 7242. the black and white output has background and looks like it is out of focus. The edge that is near the rear of the machine only has backgound no image. This area is about two inches wide and goes from lead edge to trail edge. The color copies look like they are missing magenta and yellow. I took the drum out. Looking into the cavity the black mag brush looks like it has a large amount of developer overflowing. Is this some thing I can fix by changing dv or is there a greater problem. Also does anyone have a place I can get a service manual for this machine. Thanks

      ok like most you left off some pertinent information:
      what is:
      the life on the consumables?
      total page count?
      what have you done?

          Send a pic of you can. I would tell you to run from this as it is much older technology with a carasuel drum/ developer unit but commend you for at least trying it. I am currently dealing with same issue and is due to customer using generic toner on M and Y so it ruined the developers. Send me a PM and I will see if I have PDF of manual. I take it when you open front cover M toner is all over the place.

          Parts can be obtained from 2 companies on east coast.

          The Parts Drop located in NJ they specialize in Xerox

          Item Inc located in Woodbridge VA have just about everything needed.

              Since I don't have a service manual and normally don't work on Xerox. I don't have the life of the consumables. The total counts are 170773 black and white, 7823 color. All I have done is cleaned the drum cavity and it started printing an image in the blank areas consistant with the rest of the page.
