Versalink C505 error 116-357 Is this a corrupted print job?

So the printer appears locked up.

Does the sound like a corrupted print job?

I will go maybe tomorrow and see if rebooting and disconnecting the patch cable clears the code.

I was just wondering if anyone has seen this, and has any advice.

    Thank you got any input.
    Have a great weekend, Jim

Be ready to reload software as a first try.
Second is to replace the board.

Yes, have seen it across the board on many models. This is sometimes easy but sometimes a bit more complicated to fix. After you clear the print queue, clear the job from the printer. Make sure the print port within the driver is set to LPR printing instead of Raw/9100. Definitely do not want WDS port. If you really want to be thorough, update to latest firmware and model specific driver vs the universal/global driver. Also, within LPR printer port be sure to uncheck SNMP setting. Cheers.

            Hi, thanks for the help.
is the ROM software upgrade something that requires the Xerox service tech laptop and proprietary software to install?

or is it a tech friendly upgrade done like a driver or firmware download??

            thank you very much, Jim

I think before you go crazy..your original idea was best first.

Unplug the machine, disconnect the ethernet cable at machine, power back on, go into jobs que and delete everything.

Reboot machine try printing config page. If config page and demo page prints fine, then plug in patch ethernet cable from you laptop,
and send a print job and see what happens.

If you end up with the same error code than at least you know it's not something on thier network casuing the problem.

THEN you can proceed to NVRAM, Alboot, Firmware, Parts, etc...

                  Try the easy stuff first.

Thanks.I am waiting for customer to tell me if it clears after a reboot and disconnected patch cable.

                    I'll follow up tomorrow.

                    Have a nice evening, Jim

Re: Versalink C505 error 116-357 Is this a corrupted print job?

so i went back. it is an intermittent problem. the job i saw was a 74 page double sided PDF and after the 8th page, it coded out.
i also found that some of the people couldn't print to it at all. they have half a dozen computers going to the network printer, but they are not on a server.

i looked at the onboard RAM and its 4 GB.

i also found that the exact error code isn't listed in the service manual.

i contacted my special Xerox parts people at Parts Drop in NJ, and they told me to input the code into the xerox website support page.
there is has a list of that code and how to change the settings in the computer/s from a WDS web services for devices to TCP/IP, and un switch the SNMP in the configure port.
                      that seemed to solve it.

but after, on another same model in another office, they couldn't scan from that one, but could print.

i found on a web page that the scan to settings need to be set to WSD.

so, i am hoping that i didn't create another problem where they can print, but not scan now.

i couldn't get it to scan, and was coming down with a cold, but their IT person appeared and seemed to be able to do the setup for scanning right on his wireless mac laptop, never touching their computers as i was .

things are changing my friends. old school rams head on to new school. DARN. (looking forward to social security.)

thank you so much for the help on this. i do appreciate it.
                      have a nice day, Jim
