Phaser 7800 obnoxious buzz then reboot

    Hey all.
I came home today to hear my xerox 7800 with an obnoxious buzz and then go in to a boot loop. Attaching to the comms port, i dont receive any useful information short of it failing to init.

Anyone have an idea of what has gone out?

Ive attached a video but i warn you, it is really obnoxious.

might want to turn your volume down

It might be anything. If you are confidently competent I would just run it with its covers off to locate the noise. A known contender for causing a loud noise is the waste toner system and the gearbox that rotates the waste bottle stirrer.

I am suspecting you are correct as there is a light dusting of black toner here and there upon initial inspection.
I've opened this thing up before swapping out parts. I'll update the thread when I take a look this weekend.

run it without the transfer belt cleaner, if noise goes away try turning the gear on the back of the transfer belt cleaner, probably seized.

              This is the winning answer.
Before taking things apart i inspected the consumables and the gear seized on the belt cleaner. I've ordered a new one.

Thanks a mill Richard! - Saved me taking this thing apart and observing where the noise was coming from.

So i replaced all the drums, waste cartridge and belt cleaner but now my prints are all out of whack.

White streaking / light color in the same position regardless of color.

I am assuming my transfer belt is dirty but asking if it could be something else...

                test prints

                What do you guys think?

                thanks

                  Just an update:

I took out the transfer belt assembly and found streaks of toner caked to the belt as well as it not looking the best in shape. In a last ditch effort I took some windex and rubbing alcohol and cleaned it lightly with a microfiber cloth.
After reassembling and trying some test prints I noticed a great improvement, however I believe the wear on the belt needs replacing anyway so I ordered a new one.

Last update just incase someone else has the same issue.

The seizing of the belt cleaner did indeed damage the transfer belt and needed replacing.

After changing the belt, everything looks great!

                    /cheers
