Xerox 6515 MFC Developer swapping between units fails.

I have been able to swap developer units between machines in the past on the Xerox 6515, Now there appears to be a block on Developers coming out of new machines like the chips have been written onto for that unit.

Has anyone else had the problem and know a solution. Its also cheaper to buy a new machine that the four drum/developer unit nowadays. They read 100 percent in original machine but 0 percent life in another and turning off life notification does no good. Looking for a workaround if possible.

    Thanks for any info.

Re: Xerox 6515 MFC Developer swapping between units fails unless chip on them

Found the solution to this. The original toner/drum unit in the copier have no chips on them located on the bottom side rear under the toner auger area.
The machines must have be programmed to complete a certain meter count for the new or starter toners then a new a new chipped toner/drum has to be used when this expires.
Unless in the future a chip and a new mount piece can be found to chip the units, I have not searched for that yet.
I also tried resetting the machine with the new chipped unit then putting the starter unit that still had toner left in them and it does not fool the machine.
Not likely many people will see the problem unless you need to grab parts from one to get another up quickly.
