[Misc] Versant 80 - image burned on IBT belt

    Hi,
I got a strange problem, it seem that somehow a part of text got stuck on the IBT belt and you can't wipe it off. (see image)
The text is very sharp and it look like it is written by laser. This does not fade after printing large job.

Does someone know how this could happen ?

Wow, I have never seen anything like that, ever... Do you recognize the text as something you printed before?

I'm sure the only way to fix it will be to replace the belt... You don't need to replace the whole IBT assembly, just the belt film. I'm sure Xerox sells that for the V80. (Sorry, I don't have the part number for you, but you should be able to track it down from someone.)

As far as what caused it, and how to keep it from happening ever again, afraid I can't help. That... is a unique issue I've never seen before.

Genuine Xerox toner? That's the only think I can possibly think of... If it was generic. But even though the generic's don't work well, they don't usually do THAT...

    Good luck.

Something glued on belt from media you have printed. Remember what media you used.
There isnt white toner, and the laser cant write on belt on this machine.

        Ok
        Some more info:

        1) This text is from earlier job wich was printed on 170 gr. UPM coated paper
        2) All genuine parts and toner
        3) No label has ever gone though this machine

I have never seen anything like this before, and I can't find any explanation how this is possible

        ps.
I know that I have to change the IBT belt (and cleaner) I do have them in stock, this just puzzles me

That is bizarre. Looks like the laser has written on the belt, but there's just no way that could have happened.

I'd be interested to look at that under an eye loupe.

We did look at this though a eye loupe. Crisp text (very small dots)

and yes, there is no way of the laser doing this

My best guess is some type of chemical reaction. Maybe the top coating of the belt was worn in that spot and the toner had some type of chemical reaction? I dunno. A real head scratcher.

Edit> Actually I did have a thought, there any chance there was a contaminate in the toner? Something that could have reacted poorly to the static and caused it? I really don't know though :-/

Edit2> Sorry this was supposed to be an edit but I quoted on accident.

Residual image from ibt belt, meaning not all image are transferred onto paper, and for this instance, thick paper. 2nd BTR and BUR is responsible for this process, try to clean them or replace if necessary.
