Xerox DC426 - error U2-1

I think this is Scanner related, not finding home position I think. Machine is kind of dirty, possible dirty sensor??? But if you turn it Off/On then it will make copies, and then after a while the error will come back. New customer called and ask if I would come by. Do not have a service manual for this machine.
