don't some xerox require USB a-to-b cable and software?
Older machines and production, yes. And, there's the PuTTY tool, as well, but that's a different story. But, on this one a simple altboot directory on a USB that contains the .dlm and an empty text file (with no extension) named FORCED_UPGRADE will do the trick. If you want to wipe it out during the alboot, also include a similar file named DISABLE_DATA_BACKUP in the altboot directory as well. Depending on how far up the FW ladder you are going, it might just wipe it anyway. Be aware, an altboot takes a while.
