Thankx for the info. Been awhile since I took a call on the phaser 7800, and as I remember they had generic magenta toner. I'm almost sure I just installed the phaser chip on a 7845 oem mag cartridge, and clipped a key. Maybe somebody will weigh in on this.

It's been a while, but I am certain that is NOT all there is to it, or that is exactly what I would have done myself, as that would be the first thing I attempt.

I can't remember which was which, but I clearly remember there were two "gotchas" they built into them.

One was the auger gear teeth which were opposite on one vs the other. So while on one of them, the "male" end was on the cartridge, and the "female" end was in the machine, and on the other, it was reversed. So if you just did a simple swap, they wouldn't "engage" properly.

The other 'gotcha' was recessing the auger gear about 1/4" extra into the cartridge on one style vs the other which meant the auger drive would never engage the auger gear, even when the cartridge was pushed all the way into position.

Toner on WorkCentre 78xx or 75xx Series machines without any problem??

Haha, that's funny to see my old list suddenly pop up! I'm glad people are still finding it useful! I haven't updated it with the new toner for the Iridesse machines yet, but other than that, it is current up to the Versant.

Just wanted to say thanks for this list. I've had it saved as a text file for years and forgot where it came from. It was helpful when I needed to keep some old 7760s running, and interesting to read about the newer machines.

I'm curious about the compatibility of developer. I've weighed out developer for the 242 and refilled into the 7760 a couple times with no issue. Does that scale up to say using 800/1000 developer in a C60/C70, or even a 7800?

Caffine, If I understand your list correctly (I saved the list when you first published it), the 1000 toner will work in the 78 because it is the same type of EA-ECO 3rd gen toner. Well, fusing is an issue. Not sure if the 1000 toner fuses at the same temperature as the 78, but takes longer to get to temperature than the 78 (contact arc or speed), or they fuse at different temps. Not familiar with the 1000. But the 1000 toner will not fuse in a 78. Almost but no cigar: ok for print, not for solids.
