V3100 High Capacity Stacker (MAY) - sample button and stacker tray full/049-219

So 1 company has 2 Versant 3100 machines with 2 High Capacity Stackers (MAY). I do not work on them often, but here I am. I am trained on Versant, but not the HCS. The first problem which applies to both machines is the Sample button. How does it work? According from Xerox, it is created at the DFE and it needs to have enough data in the job to create a sample. The customer never seems to be able get a sample out and they do large runs. They used to be able to get them out but not anymore. They did have one knowledgeable person leave, which may mean we are missing a step. There are only 2 bulletins that pop up and the first one does not seem to apply since the instructions are for copying and I do not have some of the button selections (Doc #1230963) and the second one (Doc# 1230949) says it applies to 700DCP. I am not sure what that is, but it says to upgrade machine and DFE software to 3.0 for compatible level. My software level is at 100. They also say to change 2 NVMs to 1, but they are already at 1.

2nd problem is only on 1 machine. Stacker tray full, 049-219, 049-940, 049-114 and 049-121. The 049-219 is the dominant code. I have tried the interlock switch and the front HCS door looks fine, but maybe I am not sure what I am looking for. I did doc# 1230941, replace stacker paddle clutch, for unloading the stacker prematurely, doc # 1230959, replace stacker exit roll housing assembly, for stacker tray full message and doc# 1230943, check stacker exit sensor for intermittent 049-121 and 116 codes. For testing purposes, I switched HCS between the 2 machines and the problem stayed with the HCS.

The Sample Print now seems to work. When it comes to Sample Print, how long should it take or is there not a specific answer? The customer says they could wait around 1 minute but I have also tried it and has taken up to 2.5 minutes. I am guessing there is no set time and just depends on how much has been processed verses printed that would determine the amount of time that passes.
