Versant 2100/3100 026-401

Greetings fellow techs,
Posting this here looking for suggestions.
026-401 on Versant 3100 with 7.5mil on it.
DC750 and DC751 both run successfully.
On restart machine still errors out within 5 seconds.
CIS sensor clean. Black strip scored but not terrible.

Should I suspect the transfer tray connectors or CIS sensor?

Any other ideas?

Clean the CIS sensor and window, then perform DC750; CIS setup AND DC751; CIS check. After doing so, exit and CLEAR the log, then hard reboot. If the 026-401 persists, try the procedure again. If it persists, replace the registration, part # 059k81222.

OR

26-401 at Power On is resettable. Skew and misregistration unresolved after completing dc126 Registration series multiple times. During Dc126 Series, the HCF Side Shift Set up does not complete successfully.

Cause:

Mis-alignment of Registration Nip Release mechanism. The motor gear does not engage with the gear on the N/R shaft. The fault 26-401 does not lead to proper identification of the root cause.

Solution:

Remove the cover in front of the registration transport. At power on, observe the Registration Nip/Release Cam - it should initialize. Ours did not. Install an interlock cheater with the right door open, Enter Dc330 output code 77-075 and listen for the motor to operate. A start/stop operation should be heard. Ours did. Remove the Reg Transport and inspect the Reg N/R motor Gear for engagement to the gear on the shaft. See attached. The gears on our transport (and the other two on site at the time) had no mesh or very little at best. As a temporary solution to the mounting bracket, we added a small thin washer to the top two mounting positions of the motor bracket to the reg transport frame. This biased the gear toward the gear on the shaft. 26-401's were resolved. Dc126 Skew Registration series was completed without fault. Perfect registration was achieved.
