    C8045 & C8070 running polyster

Trying to get a long time account back from Xerox. They are running REVLAR 4.7 mil polyester on a C8045 and C8070 in limited amounts. Is this media type listed in any specs for these two machines?

We would be replacing them with a Sharp MX-4071 and MX-6071. Sharp and all their documentation do not list polyester in their supported media. We would sell them a Lexamrk that does list it will run polyester but this account runs both letter and ledger in this media type.

Xerox have an official Xerox stock called Nevertear, which is basically the same as Revlar. Nevertear is listed as an approved stock and those AltaLink models are able to run it no problems and are really good machines IMO.

Having recently done a side-by-side with the AltaLink series and your MX series, I'd be more worried about the UI and software side of things. I'd heard lots of good things about the Sharp kit, but once I got my hands on it I couldn't beleive how inferior the machine was on the software side. The first thing the users did was complain about the UI and the print release side of things.

We had this customer for 30 years and then...

While the X equipment might be superior the service side of thing has been "a nightmare". They told us, like other customers who have gone this route that things quickly went downhill.

Machines down for a week at a time, techs taking days to show up, parts unavailable....

There was a overlap period of months that all the X's were installed and our Sharp equipment wasn't pulled yet and returned to the leasing company. IT told us that people hated the X's and were still using only the Sharps because of the UI. I understand that Sharp is what they were used to mainly so it wasn't a knock on X.

Other weirdness is that the original 7970 and 7845 X's that were installed in 2016 were swapped out in 2018. Nine in total. Nobody had an answer why this happened when we inquired.
