Xerox 7120 R1 Not Functioning - Please Help

Hi Folks - I have a Workcentre 7120 that is not printing black. I put in a non-Xerox black toner cartridge, and best I can tell, the auger mechanism inside the cartridge was broken. Since I was running a big job, the drum completely used up all available toner and the copier showed an error 092-315. This led me to inspect the black toner cartridge and realize the auger was broken. So I transplanted the toner and the chip from the faulty cartridge into a different empty cartridge. Now, I still can't get black to show up. Do I just need to keep running test sheets until the drum recharges with toner? Or should that happen pretty quick? I've run about 50 sheets through and still no black.

Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

Do you know difference between toner and developer?

I had to look it up. Are you suggesting that the drum unit ran out of developer when it was starved of toner?

BTW the R1 drum cartridge is near the end of its duty cycle.

Has anybody had experience with non-OE toner cartridges messing up drum units? If so, once the non-OE toner is inside the drum unit can the drum unit be saved?
