I wanna preface with 2 things:
1) the printer is technically still working, but if this is a problem I can get ahead of, I would very much like to.
2) I bought this printer for dirt cheap from a liquidator and use it for art projects at home. I mention this because calling out a service tech isn't really a viable option for me.
Error code currently 41-310-00 and reads as "Engine Failure." I've gotten other error codes in the past that have also read as "Engine Failure." This has been persisting for a few months now. The printer will say it won't be able to print, but definitely still prints just fine. I've also had bursts of time for the issue to go away, only to come back a few weeks later
Xerox website recommends replacing fuser unit.
When I bought this printer, I was also able to purchase a bricked version of the same printer and salvage it for consumables. Admittedly, the inside of this bricked printer was dusty as hell. The fuser I pulled out of the bricked printer was at 78% life. The bricked printer was having a boot-loading issue, so I have to assume the fuser was fine. Anyhow, gave that fuser a quick dusting and swapped it with my current fuser. It got through about 5ish print cycles and now the same error code is back. Again, still printing fine.
I wanted to address this because I went to go print the CMYK Sampler only to realize that the printer won't print any of its internal reports; not right from the printer, or when printed from browser/IP. I have the setting "Print Configuration Report on Start-up" turned on and I get nothing. Whenever I go to print one of these reports, the printer initialized the print, but never goes to grab the paper, then flags the report as printed. Again, can still print documents from my computer without issue. So now I don't have access to the previous error codes.
Worth noting, the previous owner set an admin password on this printer, but didn't remove access to any functionality. The only thing that this has gotten in the way of has been doing a full factory reset (which I would have liked to have done).
Also, I updated some of the firmware in the last 4-6 weeks, but I couldn't say if the configuration reports became an issue before or after that.
So really, it's a bunch of random small issues that I'm worried will become big issues down the line. Think of me as someone taking good care of their beater car because they can't afford a new car any time soon.
Also, I'm very "end-user" status, but very resourceful. Being pointed in the right direction would help a lot as I'm not coming up with much on my own

- Mainly, I'd like to address the error code
- I'd like to figure out how to get around the admin password
- I'd like to get my configuration reports back (but I think this would be resolved with a factory reset)
