versant 180 lots of toner under drums

good day, have a weird situation. under and by the drums. toner is piling up there, especially under the cyan and ends up dripping on printed sheets, as you can see with the picture on the floor, that is the amount that was wiped from where the developer is that fell on the floor. any suggestions.

Also make sure your main air filter is clean... But if you're coming from a 700, it is the same as that so you're probably aware.

I get a lot of toner built up under my drums even without there being any issue with the waste toner if the airflow is poor (the suction gathers up the very small fines that make it into the "air" rather than on the drum) or if the developer and developer material are getting old. They seem to be dustier as they age.

Of course, when both combine, it really can make for a dusty situation.

Printing is still flawless, except for the "drops" like you mentioned. This can mimic drops from a defective drum, but are for a totally different reason.

One difference in the drops, if it is a defective drum, it is often happening is one localized spot on the drum, meaning the drops are kind of roughly all "in line" on the printouts... (About a 1-2" range, I've seen.)

If it is a build up from dust, for one thing it takes a while to build up to the point it drops off, but when it does, they can be ANYWHERE on the page randomly. One might be at the top, the next one you see might be in the middle, and the next could be at the bottom. So it is less consistently in the same band of space across the page when it happens.

To me, your pictures kind of looked like the slow build-up type, but I certainly can't say for sure. But if it happened fairly fast, that would mean the tech document is probably what is happening.

Edit: The first picture, of I believe the cyan developer assembly, that certainly does NOT look like the slow build up issue I described... But I don't have a Versant, so I'm less familiar with its particular assemblies. I know that they are slightly different than the 700 parts, obviously, but essentially in function 100% identical.
