[Error Code] 316-720 Disk partition error - being asked to replace HDD and Main Board?

Trying to cover for a tech that is unavailable. I have network and server experience. Currently however, I am working on a Altalink C8045 with disk partition error (316.720.00). The EUers are unable to print, all other functions work. I performed a Firmware update, with power PO/PO. The disk partition error 316-720 was kicked up and they are recommending new HDD and Main board. My limited knowledge and experience being with computers, not peripheral has me wondering why we aren't trying reimage the drive. They are sending the parts so will replace them. I am weeding through the service manual and not seeing which panel I need to remove to get to the HDD and Main Board. If anyone can give page number or just a reference from facing the panel directions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

ps send prayers for usual tech to return.

Hi. You don't need to remove any panel. Power Off machine, remove the board where you connect the ethernet cable, then you will see HDD and SBC Board.

There is a Eureka 1435766 that says to do a Altboot reload of the software.

That was done previously (i am told by EU) and I also performed the same procedure (assuming you mean using a USB drive to load the latest update from Xerox).

I am going to install the drive and board they are sending and will update this thread if it doesn't solve the problem.

Thank you for responding, I should have put that in the original post.

The file you found on xerox server support is for upgrade only. That mean the machine is in good working condition , error free, and you upgrade the firmware to next fw. level version.
The file for altboot = reload machine firmware have 500 Mb size it's complete version of machine software.
If you change the hdd ( and controller ) you must do the altboot procedure.

Well then the person helping me do this was not anymore qualified that I was or didn't understand what I was asking for. I will research that more and be sure to try to not make a bad situation worse.
            Thank you.
