    Xerox WC7765 Hard drive failure

    Hello,

I was given a task of getting a copier working again and while I was working on a couple of other little repairs and cleaning it up when the hard drive gave up the ghost overnight.
I'm really hoping what I found in my searches was just incomplete and that I wont need some special hard and software tools to get this done.

So its time to ask the professionals.
I have downloaded the firmware file from xerox, as you know its a compressed archive.
Is there any way to load the firmware on a blank drive, in or outside the machine, without special xerox equipment?
The machine is a Xerox WC7765 and it has a finisher attached. I can supply any numbers or info that could be needed.
Also the sim cards of any options it may have had installed are long gone, the little hiding place is empty.

Can it be done or am I boned?

    Thanks for your time.
    Tom.

For software reload use empty usb stick 2-4 GB. Create folder altboot on usb stick , place the software .dlm file inside the folder. With machine power off insert the usb stick on one machine usb port. Power on the machine and follow the instructions from touch screen.
You must find the sim card otherwise you dont have the machine options. As I know Xerox no longer delivers sim. Machine too old. May be you find service manual on net. Better to have it.

Thank you adriansto. The one detail I missed was FAT32 formatting. The stick I used was just FAT formatted. It appears to be writing the firmware now so I should have it up and running soon. I wish I knew what sim options were installed to try and hunt some sims up. but if it functions for the most part I hope it'll be enough.
I'm sure i'll have more questions at some point.
      Thanks again
      Tom

        You're welcome!
Most common option was scan to network, scan to email.
When you insert virgin sim into machine this sim will be linked to that machine so you cant use sim from another machine.

Interesting, with the firmware and the patch that came with it applied, the scan to email option is on the home screen. I'll have to check to see if it is functional after I get the covers back on and the finisher reattached to it.
          Thanks again.
