    Xerox imaging unit in Epson??

The imaging units (photo-conductor / drum unit) of the Xerox phaser 63xx series looks very similar to the one being used with the Epson C4200DN. It seems to me that both units are based on the same engine.

    Is the imaging unit interchangeable?

    Thanks.

EPSON colour laser machines are all product by xerox. For example, xerox C525A is nearly as the same as Epson CX1000.Their supplies only the chip is different.

      Fuji-xerox engine

Since I posted the thread I discovered that all the following units are based on the same engine:

      Xerox 6300/6350/6360
      Dell 5100cn/5110cn
      Brother HL-4200CN
      EPSON C4200DN

The question is - can the (mechanically identical) imaging unit / drum kit become interchangeable between these units? The Dell drum kit for instance can be acquired for $99 while the others cost twice to five time this amount..

          Not the printers, the engines.

Back in the days of chip-less consumables we could use the 92298A toner in any of the many printers built on that extremely reliable Canon engine.
