The machine was probably in metered mode which means supplies were provided by xerox as part of a maintenance contract. When the contract ends, as far as know
      • an alternative solution when the plans reaches 0 (no matter if through metered or sold supplies)
      • understand if I can connect it to the internet to use features like print from mobile without it getting stuck

sniper2g8 Milo Wilson and adriansto seem to be the ones with accounts not providing name###@gmail.com "fake" emails (being an actual user since 10+ years) who are knowledgeable on the topic/may be able to generate the code/know about workarounds

        Hello
i have the same problem with 4 (!) WC 7830...i have an old code generator but it generates 8 digit codes, my 7830 needs 6 digit code.tried to contact xerox but no help from them , they said the machine is too old, and they have no code generator (maybe because here in italy they have no idea what i'm talking about)
Tried to ask for help here on the forum but no help from nobody....i learned that Xerox guys are like a secret organisation ?

Codex "very strano" :-) :-) as here in France they can apparently, as long as I pay a new service contract. Other option is to contact resellers and hope to find one that also is Xerox-agreed for maintenance (I think they're called ATS) and see if they can help. As I've seen here and other forums, once it is clear that we're not going to put hundreds in a contract we don't need and that would be more expensive than the value of the printer itself, technicians are willing to help if they can. Problem is to find them.

Paradox is that this way Xerox will lose both the money from the contract but also money from consumables (printer doesn't work->useless to buy consumables for it). Let's see if any of the people I tagged can help.

Here it's not very strano?.... But you're right... They will loose contracts and the money for the supplies... We sold this machines almost 10 years ago... And its not possible to force customers in a new contract..

We sold these machines 10 years ago, also two DCP 700 (no problems with that) changed a lot of pieces, drums, toners etc etc, even the controller boards. But this is the first time this happens . It's like you sell your car and after 10 years the customer calls you saying that the starting key didnt work anymore and the car asks for a code to start the engine.....
I'm sure there i an easy way to solve this problem, we have to find it...

We've bought a secondhand Xerox Workcentre 7835 copier, and I see from the configuration report that it's on a 'metered' service plan. We haven't taken over the serv

there were more detailed posts on the topic but can't find as the version changed, search feature doesn't seem to work as expected and link from google results are based on old forum.

Is there a way to see if the machine is in Sold or Metered mode when there is no toner, I believe that a printed config report will show which mode but obviously can't print one of those.
