    xerox dc430 resetting password

A customer bought a xerox dc 430 at a auction, display is asking for password to copy. I tried to reset in tech mode, but not find any entries to reset the password or disable the password entry.

I did the #22222, that only would let change the tech mode password, not the user password on display.

Try #11, which is the service mode (at least on the dc230/dc440).

I also did #11, but only allow some settings to be changed, not the user password.

I have never seen the 430, but assuming it is similar to the 432, try this:

            login with #22222
            look for Auditron
            then Auditron Enable Setups
            then Copy
            then Disable

If that doesn't work you could try looking at Access Rights Setup, but that normally means access to setup which should not apply here - however in any case there is an option to delete a user.

Another thing you could try (although I think that too is not relevant here) is Service Access Control - but that is mainly concerned with authorisation for access to settings configuration via the web UI.

If all the above fails, try logging in as #11 and look for anything concerned with Auditron.

I tried #22222 in this dc430, there is no Auditron selection, only lets me reset the #22222 password.

                1. Press the [Access] button on the top right of the Control Panel to enter the Setups mode. A key-shaped symbol is located above the Access button.

                2. Enter your system password using the keypad at the right. Select [Enter] on the Touch Screen. The Setups screen is displayed.

NOTE: If you do not know the system password, contact your administrator. The initial system password at machine install is #22222. Make sure to include the # sign when entering the password.
                3. Select the [Auditron Setups] button on the Touch Screen. The Auditron Setups screen will be displayed.
                4. Select [Internal Auditron].

                5. Select either the [Auditron Enable Setups] or [Service Access Setup] button. The name of the button depends on the machine model and version of software.

                6. Select the [Copy] and / or [Fax] buttons, one at a time, and select how you want the auditron set.
                7. Depending on the machine model and software version, one of the three choices below will be displayed.
                  • Select [Enabled] to switch the service ON, or [Disabled] to switch service the OFF.
                  • Select [Mode 0 = No Auditron], [Mode 3 = Accounts without limits], or [Mode 4 = Accounts with limits].
                  • Select [Off / No Auditron], [Auditron without Account Limits], or [Auditron with Account Limits].
                8. Select [Save] to enter your selections.
                9. Select [Close] three times.
                10. Select [Exit] to exit the Setups mode.
                11. Hope this will help you!!
