Duplex registration on DC240

I have a problem with front/back registration on my DC 240, with bustled rip. No matter how I calibrate, it never gets right.
Also, 1 side is about 0,5 to 1 mm longer than the other, while my files are ok.
How can this be fixed?

Also, is there any way to reset USA toners to European?

I know there is a fix that I have done with one 240 machine involving adjusting the orientation of the fuser ( replacing one of the fixed screws with an adjustable dial).

Is your paper being fed through the bypass or just through the main trays? What application are you using to print? Are you setting the auto center feature?

I have found many different things that would affect the registration more than just hardware.

With regards your registration problem, you will find that the paper you are using is either stretching or shrinking - after going through the fuser...
The quality of the paper will govern how much it shrinks. I have seen paper stretch upto 4mm.
I would not reccomend playing with the pressure of your fuser as this will lead to more problems.

I never knew that paper could stretch that much on a copier. I know it does on weboffset.
I don't like to fiddle with the hardware, that's why I'm looking in the software side first.
The paper front/back registration calibration is not perfect also. They're slanted in relation to eachother.

What brand/weight paper is best in your experience?
I have used Mondi Appeal 80 grams and Koehler 185, 246 and 280 grams.
And on all I have the stretching. From 1-2 mm.
That's just too much.

To adjust the skew/slant, there is a screw at the front of the registration assembly - put it in the hole next to where it is and you will be able to adjust the skew.
The best paper is Xerox paper of course - the machine is designed to run it.
However any good 'Colour copier paper' should be allright.
Cheap 'offset' paper is not a good idea as this is where you will get stretching and poor copy quality issues due to the high moisture content.
You pay for what you get...
Note - that most paper will stretch a small amount...

Although I have some mechanical knowledge, I have no drawing of the machine, so don't know all names of the parts.

That adjustment is what I was referring to. Also, there is a little add-on that can be attached to the bypass tray to help prevent tail kick from heavy stocks pushing out on the paper guides.

One of the bigger software registration issues that I have noticed is the auto center feature being aware of the differing margins on all sides. So it centers according to the margins, which can result in a shift of around 3-4mm when comparing the two sides. You can usually see if that shift is taking place if your head to tail is off while your top to bottom is on.

not sure if that makes sense, but I have wrestled with this machine to perfect its registration. It can be very frustrating.

G'day,mate.Try using a heavyweight 2 media ,if it worsen ,troubleshoot the registration clutch,do not adjust any adjustment before you check out the registration.cheers
