Realise this thread is ages old and this won't be any use to the original poster, however you can reset NVMs on the DC5000 without a PWS.

From the Windows UI open the file search box and search for "IOT"

This should bring up a number of results, the one you're looking for is IOTUtil.bat (there are three versions of this on our machines not sure if this is the same with all, any of them should work)

Open IOTUtil.bat and it brings up a Xerox Utility program. From this you can Read/Write NVMs.

You need to set-up a CSV file to load into this to Write new NVMs. (just do another search for NVM and this will bring up all of the NVM CSVs on the machine, copy one to your desktop and name it something like NVMupdate.csv ...take out all of the lines other than the top two (the top line is the field names and the second line should have some values in it like ",744,033,1,Descriptionxxxxxx" To load corrected NVMs simply overwrite the second line with the corrected ones. Then save the CSV file and load it via the Utility programme. Done.

...be careful loading NVMs... make sure you know they're the correct ones for the machine.
