Xerox 421 - New drum unit does not clear the replace drum message!

    Can anybody help me??

I fitted a new OEM drum unit to a Xerox Workcentre Pro 421, presuming that it would just accept it and reset the machine but it still just sat there with the replace drum unit message.

I thought, it's obviously a faulty cartridge and I sent it back and ordered another. To my horror, the same thing happened with this one....

Am I missing something? Is there an engineers or user code to enter to clear the message? I mainly work on Ricoh's and I am not too familier with Xerox.

Any advise would obviously be very welcome.

    Thanks in advance ,

    Lea

I have not worked with a Pro 421, but I am guessing it's one of the desktop machines. A few small machines need you to replace the drum while they are turned off, otherwise the CRUM information will not be read correctly, and may possibly be corrupted, and that new drum will not be useable again

This is a rebadged Toshiba (estudio 20 series), it can have the drum set as user replace where the fuse blows and resets the counter or set as Technician replace where you have to go into service mode and reset the counter. Depending on which firmware is on it you will either need to reset one code which I believe is 08-673 or two codes 401 and 355 to clear.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!
