Use the Image overwrite feature. It was implemented just for that reason.

Is the image overwrite feature "on" as a default setting ? What I am asking is from day one is the harddrive being encrypted as a default until told not to.

I'm not familiar with this model, but in the admin/tools mode there should be an option to do an 'initialise hard disk' which erases jobs stored on the HD and resets the settings on the device back to defaults, I'm unsure if this does a secure wipe of the HD though.

Enter in tech mode (hold down 0 for a 5-6 seconds and press Start, password is 6789) in Diagnostic/Maintenance or in some submenu should be option Initialize HDD partition A

to be 100% safe you can hand over the HDD to the customer and install a new one.
