Help! my 340dc screen only has vert. black lines at startup..

Hi I recently aquired a used xerox 340dc copy machine, when I turn it on it sounds like everything is working fine but the screen just shows vertical black lines. I have checked over everything and tried starting it up with the HDD unhooked. I dont know what i could be missing. I have also searched everywhere online and came to find nothing simalar to this problem. If you have ANY ideas please help!
