    DC 242 w/ bustle rip

Powering on the machine, how fast should the RIP come up??

I am looking at a machine with bustle rip that takes about 5min to come to ready (print/scan). The copier starts in about 30-40 seconds and comes to ready.

I see a video port on the RIP, hooking a monitor to it, will that show be any boot spews?? Is it possibly doing a disk check or something everytime??

The 2 digit LEDs show 00, but the wait is so long.

Also, RIP fan or PS is kind of loud, like a whiny sound, maybe is that a SCSI drive in there?? I have heard SCSI make that noise.

    Any info would be great

    no replies, I'll try

Well it took the RIP around 5 minutes to come up a couple times. Much faster now, maybe it was doing a disk check/repair at start up from not powering down correctly??

Inside the RIP is a SATA drive, much newer than I thought! Cool. The loud spinning / whining noise I am hearing is actually coming from the fan on the power supply, yikes. It looks like a small ball bearing fan that is loud, if I cover it with my hand it goes away, but will most likely overheat.

I found while searching (thanks Google) that the video port on the model shows nothing. I wonder if a serial port/hyperterminal or Putty will show anything??

It appears the the RIP may have come off of a 252. Is the software the same?? It works fine as a copier/printer. Havent messed with scanning yet.

    Thanks
    JJ

242 and 252 rips are the same. You can get a replacement fan no problem.
