These were not standard issue they were options. They are expensive options and you need to buy the floppy for each option and for each machine. Once installed the floppy can not be used on another machine. At least not easily........
The floppy is a proprietary format and can not be duplicated.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

you need the scan board first of all
then the floppy to activate it
the floppy is serialized to the copier but you can change the copiers serial # to the one you use the floppy on and it will work

Is a DC440 machine and it have the scan interface on it if he can print with copier.
In Hodaka machine you need a small coupling interface.
SOme photos of the board on the back of the machine are useful.

Hello friend. A friend gave me the disk with data to enable the scan! New features have appeared on the machine (scan and email) but the machine does not work anymore! it turns on and when the network controller is 70%, the machine restarts but the screen remains for hours "please wait ... Warming up."
What happened? now the machine is down and I would fix it. Thanks friend.

need or no need for the card? I have not yet understood. I enabled the options using the floppy disk but the machine reboots without being able to use!

I ask you some photos of the board and you post the connectors for ESS picture. So that is !

Look at the last picture ( FIG 6 ). If you dont have all cables like in picture you dont be abble to scan.
For scan options you need scsi cable on right hand connector and hdif board like in FIG1.
If your xerox tech told you need only diskette for scan without have scsi cable then I think he is not a xerox tech. May be he is a painter !

my technician was convinced that my machine was already set to scan, but he has never seen! Tomorrow will post a full picture of all the cables. You can post better pictures? The resolution is very low and I can not see well.
