I am a first time "large machine" buyer and was sold a Docucolor 12. That is what the ad stated and what my receipt stated. However, after getting the machine home and set up on a service contract....I realized that I technically had a DCCS50 machine since I have a Cobra rip and not an external fiery.
I have a couple questions.
1) Can I basically just unplug my cobra rip, install the external fiery drivers on my Windows machine....plug in the external fiery using the same cables that I just unplugged.....turn on my printer and it will work? I don't think it is that easy. I saw in another post that I would have to: "change few nvm location". What does that mean and how hard would that be? Would my tech do that for me under my service contract? If not, is it hard?
2) My wife prints stationery, invitations, business cards, stickers, etc. through Adobe InDesign CS3, Illustrator CS3, etc.
I know I have the following options:
X12, XP12 (version 1.5), XP12 (version 2.0), EX12 and the Splash models.
I have heard that the splash models are great and are the highly recommended models for me....but do they print better quality prints? I want something very easy to use.....that just prints great.
Our DCCS50 is having an issue printing pinks, grays, light colors....they look pixelated. We have replaced the developer, parts, etc.....but it doesn't seem to help. So we have decided it could be the fiery....so we are trying to find the right fiery for us. I hope that fixes the issue!
We just want the cheapest fiery for our needs, but one that has great print quality (like Staples or Kinkos professional color).
ANY THOUGHTS? I really appreciate your help!
