First download the postscript drivers from Xerox. They are free.

Then follow the built in color calibration procedure in the printer. It may be enough without having to spend more money. The printers are pretty good about not drifting off calibration very badly so this is the first step. The postscript drivers provide more flexibility as well and may be what you need to get by.

Phasermatch is not all that useful without a spectrophotometer to measure the color wavelengths that your printer is putting out. If you buy a spectrophotometer, they are available with better profiling software than phasermatch. I'm pretty sure a densitometer can be used but it won't be as good. I guess they put the software out for shops that already had spectrophotometers but did not need 3rd party RIP's like EFI's fiery for short run printing on the phasers.

Phasermatch 3.0 could work with a scanner as a poor mans spectrophotometer but 4.0 removed that ability. It's nice to be able to create calibration profiles but with a supported spectrophotometer, color calibration of any printer is far more time consuming.

Really accurate color is not cheap but it is much better than it used to be.
