i have the service manual but there is no code on the screen so not sure what to look for...

Try to see where the problem is. Power on the controller, then try to power on the printer and see if you can get into service mode, remove the cables from scanner and see if the lamp go on at power on ,etc. Read with attention the service manual.

The controller is working fine, i can print to it no problem... It is the scanner not working and because of the "initialization fail" error can't really get into service mode.

Probably lamp ballast pwb (pl1.4 - nr.10 ) is gone.
Check it and replace .

The exposure lamp should power off after Post 6 but this one remained on and stopped on Post "A".
Can try to do GP14 from sm
I think DDS = ON on accxes printer configuration settings !
