    Moving a WF 6604

We have been asked to prepare a Xerox WF 6604 for moving. Other than shrink wrapping it is there anything we need to do?
I am particularly concerned with the operational panel which is on a swing arm. The fiery and whether or not we need to lock the scanner down. Allied Van lines is doing the transporting. Going about 400 miles.

There are several items you would want to do in preparation for the move:
    • Remove the user interface (touch screen) an pack it well in a separate box.
    • Remove the covers from the support shaft of the user interface. Then remove the support assembly from the machine. Store all the screws and hardware in a box.
    • Pack the Dell Computer in a box.
    • Open the scanner cover, and place a thin sheet of bubble material between the roller and the inner surface of the top cover. Re-close the cover.
    • Remove the right lower panel (two screws in the front and two in the back)
    • Remove the screws holding the controller support bracket, and store inside box with controller.
    • Wrap up all the loose wires, and secure inside while re-installing the panel.
    • Open the machine clam shell as if clearing a paper jam. In front of the green drum is a shaft with white plastic fingers. Look at the left end of this shaft, and you will notice3 a pin running through the shaft. Grasp the shaft, and slide it to the right slightly. Once the pin passes by the two pins sticking out from the left side, rotate the shaft so the pin in the shaft is located between the two pins. This will hold the fingers away from the drum surface during transport.
    • Remove the wire catch trays from the front lower doors, and store in lower portion of machine under the paper trays.

If you need anything else, drop me a line. Carl Byrne cbyrne@goevergreen.net
