[Misc] WorkCentre 7655: No More Network Scanning Function?

About a year ago we recieved a second hand WorkCentre 7655 from a company friend. It took us a while to get everything up and running, but eventually we figured it all out. But this morning when I turned on the machine, it asked me to enter some basic infomation(language, date, time, etc.), something it has never done before. After the machine rebooted, and the menu was displayed, it listed only the Copy function. The Network Scanning icon was no longer there.

I printed out a copy of the Configuration Report which listed the proper Network Scanning settings as we configured it(the FTP address, user/pass), however it says Network scanning is disabled. I've gone through all the manuals we recieved with the Machine, and also looked through all the options on the machine itself and through its IP address in an attempt to enable Network Scanning.

So far I have not found any solutions, nor have I been able to find out what has changed from the last time we used the machine to today.

Anyone have a suggestion on how to enable Network Scanning?

The scanning option is activated by a little SIM card. Read about this in your documentation
Probably you lost activation and other setting of machine and need to reload software.
What version of firmware / software the machune are ? You find this information on configuration report

the battery died
check the copiers meter
its probably at zero count
you need to replace the battery
then reconfigure the copier and insert the sim card
what country are you in

That's strange, that little SIM card seems to be missing now. I remember installing it when we first got the printer. Does this card expire and get destroyed by the machine or something? How do find a replacement card?

That's also a good point about the battery possibly being dead. Every time we start the printer up we have to enter in the date/time, phone number, etc., that makes sense that the battery might be dead. I'll try replacing it, but I suppose that won't help much until the SIM card is replaced first though.

This SIM containt a code that activate the scanning option on machine. The SIM is good but some variables are mismatched in your machine. The best solution is to reload software after replacing battery and activate again scanning option. What software version do you have on machine ?

It looks like the System Software version is 040.033.50500

The Scanner Software version is 011.050.007

Old version of software. More reliable is version 40.033.53xxx.
You need pws tool to reload software and restore configuration

Check the paper trays for a little compartment at the front of the tray is normally where the sim card is stored.

The scanning option will be back only if will activated with SIM or if he has back-up of nvm at the time when machine worked normally. Reload the software will help to normalize the corrupted nvm and make machine runs normally - read GP4 from edoc and you will know why.

Newer version of software works better. This is the reason for load new version.

I find it really bizarre that the SIM card just disappeared one day. Unfortunately, we don't have any sort of back up SIM card, I can't seem to find a replacement online either.
