    Xerox 7242

Hi all, slight issue with my 7242 workcenter. I was making a few copies today and the black toner on the colour pages got fainter with each print until the pages were blank. The printer sounded a little different also, i looked at the supplies status and it said 60% toner left. I thought that maybe it had run out early though and replaced the toner with new one i got off ebay. However i put it in and it went through its process of loading toner please wait... then said the toner was at 0% and please replace the toner, i put the old one back in and it also said it had 0% toner. The old toner had the same part number as the new one, i also replaced all the colour toners and they are all now reading 100% but still the back toner reads 0%.

Do you think its a duff toner? They both have plenty on toner inside the old and new black carts because i feel it moving about inside when i shake them.

    Any help appreciated

i've had a look but i don't really know what i'm doing so i've called a tech to repair it. Its also making a horrible noise of plastic cogs slipping or grating now so i just turned it off. I guess you must be right that something at the back to do with the gears must be broken.

As I know the gears from dev assy are not spared separatelly so you must order a new black dev housing and developer material
