Xerox DocColor 240 Unable to set Serial Number

    [Error Code] Xerox DocColor 240 Unable to set Serial Number

    Hi all

    I've been working on a Xerox DocuColor 240, and whilst doing so removed the battery in the NVM chip, which I believe is responsible for one of the counters.

    The machine now starts up with an error message and will not allow you to get any further. The code is 116-391. I've held down 0 for 5 seconds and pushed start to enter the advanced settings, and gone to the billing counters screen where it shows SYS2 with blank serial and blank product number, and 0 for the counter. I selected IOT which shows the correct data and entered the serial number to correct the error, but it keeps saying unable to set serial number, and will not go any further.

    I'm now stuck with a completely useless DC240, and it desperately needs to work again ASAP as it is used constantly through the week!

    Can anyone please help, and if so many thanks in advance!

    (p.s. I'm a computer engineer and rather familiar with computers and electronics, but reasonably new to printers. I've been working on this one as a favour to someone)

        Well, that's a relief to hear! At least I haven't made an expensive paperweight just yet. I'm trying to get some PWS software here to work, but no luck just yet. It only appears to like XP and my laptop is 7, so trying to get it on another PC now. Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated. I'll post back here with what happens or if I need more.

            Hi, sorry for the newbie question... but I've got the PWS up and running and connected to the DC240, but I can't seem to find how to "sync the serials" ?

            Any help please guys?

              Just to give a bit more info, in the PWS software I have found the serial number locations, but I'm unable to set them as they show as readonly.

              Any ideas guys? As always, thanks for any help you can give!

                Ok, thanks for the help but I seem to have rectified the problem. Using PWS I found that there were other errors, and once those were resolved it finally allowed me to sync the serials using the advanced settings. Seems it won't do that if there are other problems queued up.
