We are having copy quality issues with these copiers losing density, after about 3000 copies or prints. If you replace the drum unit print quality is restored. We use OEM xerox product. and have replaced power supplys and main boards for testing and still the same issue occurs. we upgraded firmware no change to quality. 3 different machines are having the same problem, Highest meter count is 76000. drum percentage at failure is between 80 and 70 percent left of drum life. When you say copy quality issues do you mean....
light copies
dark copies
background
uneven density?
I ask this since it would affect what hardware issue you may have.
I am working on a 4150 that has uneven background problems, (darker on the right side) and like you I have R&R'd the HVPS, and SMPS with bulging caps and signs of heat damage to no avail. Like your issue the problem goes away temporarily with a new drum unit but is not affected by the toner replacement or toner drive. I am also searching for a solution but am wondering if your issues are the same as mine or different?
