    Xerox Able 1406 chip

    Hi to all
I'm not a technician, just a long time user of photocopiers. My question to any out there is that the xerox able i have has a chip (4404B) on the toner cartridge (113R55) which i think is just a counter. My question is if it is a counter and has no real electrical contact to the cartridge itself then why does the copy count vary so much from cartridge to cartridge. Am i missing something here, as i said i'm no technician.
