    WC 7665 firewire communication error

Checked connections, resteated firewire comm and controller boards cleaned out with forced air, reseated boards still get error. Bought new firewire 800 cable form com to controller. Still getting error.

Next step is new ieee1394b Firewire 800 PCI PWB for com that slides out of left-side rear of copier readily available open market. This is correct board to buy, correct?

If that doesn't work will have to try the controller Firewire card. Is that a Xerox proprietary board? I hope not.

We don't have the PWS for this machine is there a reset in CE mode we might try to clear out error? INitialize NVM? Think we need to do that anyhow snce previous user changed the user name admin and/or password "1111" on web interface - will that clear out user stored username and PW?

When we press energy save and start and power up UI gets dark and can't read anything so any help getting into CE mode correctly appreciated and answer as to clearing our previous user's custom username/password.

    Thanks in advance

You need pws to watch the boot-up process.
Many electronic boards from machine may be involved in this error code.
For user and password restore that depends by machine software level.
Probably you need to reload software; it's the easy way to deal with restore user id and password for machine.

Strange thing is when I go to web interface there are no alerts with a status code

I want to manually upload sys software currently I have v 0.40.33.53250 via web interface manual upload but Xerox support site does not have the sys software I note I have version 2.0 but if I go to web interface--->configuration--->Device Profile----> device model shows

Device Model: Xerox WorkCentre 7665 v1 Multifunction System

Version 1.0? The sys software installed is Version 2.0.

Where can I go to get the .dlm file to reload system software to newer version or reload same as what I have already?

033.53250 is the last version available.
You may use altboot to reload the software

Forgive me - altboot? WHat is that and how is it done? Can it be done without the PWS? We are not a X deler this is a trade-in just want to get it running. It worked fine at first copies and prints then out of nowhere Firewire error started.

Re: WC 7665 firewire communication error

I went to Xerox site and uploaded installcustomeservices.dlm file and manually uploaded I figured it would be helpful for whomever.

Now I don't see anything for color + black impressions and all the consumables life remaining left have a reading of NaN%?

Sorry to be a pain in the neck but how do I get this controller to read normal values again?

Why you dont purcase your own pws software ?
It's not so expensive and it's a lot of work to be done at your machine.

How much? The thing is we got so few of these on trade-in - and we are not a Xerox reseller. Would 7665 pws include laptop and cable to connect and would it also have Docucolor 240/242/250/252/260?

Re: WC 7665 firewire communication error

OK. Had a guy come by with PWS and code points to 03-332 firewire card at com connect also very sloppy - not tight.

He could not even do an altboot because it won't get past ESS failure.

I am going to buy a new ieee 1394b PCI card.

Question: I can buy an open market ieee 1394b can't I? Or is this card somehow proprietary Xerox?

                        Thanks in advance.

Use the number and manufacturer on the card itself, it's not proprietary.

I think is nothing wrong with the fireware card.
Watch boot-up process of the ess controller.
